A regional honor for the winners of the Tunisian competition for local products

Today, Wednesday November 10, 2021, at the headquarters of the State, a ceremony was held in honor of 13 issuers crowned with medals during their participation in the activities of the third round of the Tunisian debate on local products, which was organized by the Agency for the Promotion of Agricultural Investments during the month of October. Mr. Tariq Al-Bakoush,

the first delegate in charge of managing the affairs of the wilaya of Monastir, in the presence of Mr. Karim Ben Faraj, the regional director of the Agency for the Promotion of Agricultural Investments, a group of regional executives, representatives of support and support structures and representatives of national organizations, presided over the regional ceremony of honor of the crowned participants. In the national competition, after participating in more than 48 traditional local products, they were classified second at the national level by winning 19 medals, including 8 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. Prime Mootamid clarified that the authority, with its various institutions and support structures, always works to overcome difficulties and support, accompany and support young entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises to produce and market and penetrate local and foreign markets, in particular the support of traditional agricultural products and locals who draw their heritage from the cultural customs and traditions of certain neighborhoods. The first elected winner of this national competition of local products called for more appreciation of traditional local products and new ones to ensure the added value of the traditional and local product and its promotion locally and internationally and present it as well as its origin, in more to preserve the permanence of use and consumption of the traditional agricultural product which was appreciated by the parents and the grandparents and who preserved the use of it and bequeathed it to the successive generations. Karim Ben Faraj, regional director of the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency, confirmed that this national competition is organized by the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA) once every two years under the supervision of the Ministry of agriculture, water resources and fisheries and in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts With the support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization ( UNIDO) through the “Access to Food Markets and Local Products Project” which it implements with funding from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation (SECO). that the organization of this national debate aims to raise awareness of the brand of local products Improve the quality of local agricultural products in accordance with market requirements and ideal standards at national and international level, in addition to promoting know-how The traditional and local cultural heritage of the different Tunisian regions by setting conditions of participation which depend on the definition of the ingredients and the way of preparing local products which define the specificity of the festival associated with its cultural heritage, in particular the products for which Monastir was famous, such as Basisa, honey from Sidr, Haros, sun-dried tomatoes and Rob Al-Kharub And natural cosmetic oils extracted from ornamental plants and prickly pear seeds.
